Christian Surfers United States National Director, David Nehrig, lives in Huntington Beach California, with his wife Amy and their four young sons. David grew up in Huntington Beach and truly became a frothing grom at the age of 11. His love for Jesus combined with his love of the ocean quickly became the two most important things in his life. While in high school he made a commitment that he would give his life to ministry in any way the Lord wanted to take him.
David and his wife, Amy, met in 1999 and go engaged after just five months. With a mutual passion for the ocean, traveling, and a desire for a life in ministry, it was a perfect fit. They have spent the last 20 years serving as a “package deal.” Ministry is a lifestyle that they have adopted as a family. After 20 years of pastoring at Seaside Community Church, David and Amy felt it was time to see what God had for their next season of life. In August of 2019, the Nehrig family set out from Huntington Beach in their 1991 Winnebago Warrior and drove to Panama. During this sabbatical, God taught them true dependence on Him, bonded them as a family, and gave them a greater love and excitement for Christian Surfers. David and Amy are confident that God has called them to ministry for the surfing community, and David accepted the title of Nation Director of Christian Surfers United States in July of 2020. David and Amy are energized and excited to be part of God’s plan to impact lives in surfing communities through CSUS.
