Camping in the Rain

Camping in the Rain

This weekend a handful of chapters from Florida got together to camp out and surf together at Hanna Park in Jacksonville. This camp-out has turned into an annual event where everyone can get together for a weekend of surf and fellowship. This year was no different with members of the New Smyrna, Daytona, Jacksonville, Flagler, St. Augustine and Pensacola chapters making the trip to Jacksonville.

Another element of this camp-out that has turned into a usual occurrence is interesting weather. One year, it’s freezing, the next it’s pouring rain. This year brought more rain but that didn’t keep the 30+ crowd from coming out. The waves were pretty hit and miss but there were a few fun sessions in the afternoons after the rain cleaned up the lineup.

Nights at the CS campsites looked like bonfires, burgers and a whole lot of stories shared. Alex Hobbs, our chapter leader from Flagler and musical magician, provided some tunes to wind down the nights. And of course the groms were set loose skating through the campgrounds and taking over the lineup! Stay connected with your local chapters on social media to hear about the next camp out and join us this October for our East Coast camp out in the Outer Banks!
