Charging With Friends

Living Water
Have you ever surfed a big day by yourself? I’ve found that I’m more fearful and timid. I’m more cautious… more fearful of drowning or bad wipeouts. I am more willing to just give up. Whereas, taking a set on the head with my friend can almost be laughable. Surfing on big days with my friends pushes me to turn off the fear, charge, and not give up.
The same goes for our faith. We weren’t made to follow Jesus on our own. God calls us to live radically for him. The times I lived, not in communion with others, the fear and timidity hold me back from living out the Gospel. Let’s make it a practice to live in Godly fellowship with those around us. Helping us, to further the kingdom and live boldly for Jesus. In 1 Thessalonians 2:11-12, Paul beautifully writes how we’re to live in community as encouragers, comforters, and those that urge each other to pursue Jesus wholeheartedly.
11 For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, 12 encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory.
