Contentment

Published: Mon Oct 21, 2024

Living Water

by Nina Coons; CS Girls West Coast Representative

Contentment is often a struggle for surfers. The waves are never quite right, there are too many people, or they just crave more time in the water. Life also has this struggle. I often find myself wishing for a bigger house, to travel more, or the ideal family. In these moments, I overlook the blessings I already have. Forgetting that many of them were once my heart’s desires.

When I approach the Lord with gratitude for what He has done, rather than focusing on what’s missing, I realize His presence has always been with me. It’s like a surfer, after all the complaints, finally noticing an epic sunset and understanding the beauty that was there all along.

Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;

make known among the nations what he has done.Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name;  let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. 1 Chronicles 16:8-10
