Mikayla grew up in a loving Christ centered family in a small farm town a couple hours away from the ocean. Although she had no idea how to surf, God gave her a desire at a young age to see surfers come to know Jesus. After graduating high school she felt the need to step out in faith and pursue the calling God put on her heart. She moved out to the coast full of excitement, expectancy and fresh vision. She was ready to start a surf ministry right away, but instead of a successful ministry to write home about, she was met with a lot of unforeseen obstacles and found the area not spiritually ready. Although she didn’t have a strong church or surfing community and had plenty of reasons to doubt and lose faith, she only felt the burden for the surfing community grow stronger. At just the right moment God brought Christian Surfers into her life. When CS asked if she would pray about joining full time staff and helping establish CS in northern California, she couldn’t help but feel it was an answer to all the prayers she had been praying and an opportunity to step out into what God had called her to do so many years ago. She’s excited to be part of the CS mission and stoked to see what God is going to do in her surfing community in northern California.
