What will the accommodations look like?
Cabins are bunk bed style and split into guy/girl cabins that sleep about 16-20 people each. Bathrooms are in adjacent buildings next to the cabins and have indoor and outdoor showers. There are no separate cabins for families; however, you are welcome to bring your own tent and camping gear and tent camp with your family/spouse in the grass area in front of the cabins. Please note: Camp pricing is the same whether you are tent camping or sleeping in the shared bunks.
What will the food be like? What if I have an allergy?
Food is a cafeteria-style buffet that the Camp Homelani staff cooks. The food is ono and super yummy! It will be a mix of local Hawaiian food and other style meals to keep us fueled for multiple surf sessions each day. Camp includes breakfast and dinner; lunches will be on your own so you can have the day to go out and explore, surf, and adventure without having to be at the camp in the middle of the day. Allergies: Some allergies like peanut and vegetarian options are available, the camp does not guarantee to accommodate celiac or gluten free campers. If you are celiac or GF, please reach out and we will give you a discounted camp price without the food included. They will happily let you use the camp microwave and refrigerator space to store some food for yourself. This option is only available if the camp cannot accommodate your allergies!
Can I get a refund?
If you cannot attend, you may get a full refund up to 30 days before the start of camp. After 30 days, a 50% refund can be given.
How much does it cost to fly a board?
Depends on the airline. Southwest and Hawaiian (with a kamaʻāina membership) fly surfboards for free inner island. If you’re flying from the mainland, please check with your airline company for specific rates under 50 lbs.
Can I fundraise for this trip?
This is considered a retreat versus an outreach mission trip with Christian Surfers. I would not recommend fundraising for this trip but would encourage doing something like odd jobs (babysitting, car wash, mowing lawns, etc) to save for this trip or work trades to help get extra funds to attend. If money is the ONLY reason you feel you cannot come, please reach out, and we can help you with ideas and talk through options.
