“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.”

Have you ever had one of those perfect surf sessions? The waves are glassy, the lineup’s empty, the sunset’s beautiful. You come in so smiley, feeling so stoked and maybe even thankful. You’re thankful the wind held off, the swell showed up, and that you got off work early enough to make the sunset. 

It’s so easy to forget where all that goodness actually comes from. Every single good thing the ocean, the waves, the stoke, they’re all gifts from the creator of it all. Every perfect moment, big or small, comes from Jesus. 

I’ll be honest, sometimes I catch myself taking credit for the blessings in my life, thinking it’s all from my own hard work or effort. But even the ability to work hard, to wake up, to have energy and drive, that’s all from God, too. Remembering that keeps us humble. 

Instead of becoming prideful or holding tight to our blessings, we start to feel grateful and undeserving, just blown away that God loves us enough to let us experience so much joy!
