Join the team from CSUS as we head to northern Peru to spend time in multiple different surf towns where CS Peru is working to develop chapters. The team will be mobile with a flexible schedule that allows for the local connections to be present and available with the team. This trip requires a good bit of travel, including a domestic flight once you arrive in Lima and a solid amount of road trip time along the northern part of the coast. You will be working closely with a team from CS Peru, spending time doing outreach, service and pouring into local communities that are hoping to start a CS chapter.

what's the week look like?

The team will be mobile, spending time in various beach communities. The schedule will be very fluid, as is the culture in Peru. Be open to change and last-minute plans and the leading of the Holy Spirit throughout the week. The final tentative schedule will be given out at the team call two weeks prior to takeoff.

Before you go

Make sure that your passport will be valid for at least six months beyond the intended departure date. Have at least two to four blank pages in your passport for visas or entry stamps. (If vaccinations required or visa applications insert here)
What will the accommodations look like?

Accommodations will vary from location to location, from Airbnbs to surf hostels and local hotels. You will have running water in all locations, but don’t count on consistent wifi. AC/Heat are rarely used outside of more upscale hotels/AirBnBs, but this time of year is much cooler, so just layer up, and it will be comfortable everywhere you go.

What will the food be like? What if I have an allergy?

Peru has some of the best food in the world, from fresh ceviche and seafood to local fusion dishes; you will have a ton of options for dinner. Lunch will be a more traditional Peruvian menu (family style sharing) with lighter options that are friendly to vegetarians and vegans. Be aware that if you are gluten intolerant, you may have to pack additional snacks to supplement yourself, as not many people in Peru share that allergy. You can find dishes that are gluten-free, but you won’t always be able to guarantee a gluten-free kitchen or cross-contamination. The team will do its best to facilitate your needs, but it isn’t always possible, depending on the location.

Can I get a refund?

The $500 deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE if you have to cancel. We will do our best to refund what we can, but as we book housing and vehicles, we are less able to refund, so please ensure you can make the trip before committing.

How much does it cost to fly a board?

This varies between airlines; check the specific airline’s policy on boardbags, as many have changed to new dimensions for bags and policies for oversized boardbags.

Can I fundraise for this trip?

Yes, you can fundraise for this trip. Please connect with Caleb, the trip leader, to let them know you want to fundraise, and he can give you the correct avenue for your donors to give.
