Location

France

France is a major surf destination for Europeans, especially the southwest coast town of Hossegor. We would be partnering with CS France to potentially serve at the Quick Fest, an annual event hosted by Quicksilver. Working with CS France and Surf Church of Hossegor, our team will have the opportunity to build on relationships already underway with surfers in Hossegor as well as reach surfers from all around Europe with movie nights, music nights, BBQs, and plenty of surfing!

The trip in 2026 was like this:

  • Day 1 –Arrival to Hossegor – surf & dinner & first team meeting
  • Day 2 & 3 – surf early then Quick Festival volunteering
  • Option if not able to serve at the Festival was to visit missionaries in Spain and surf with them and spend time encouraging them as they rarely get Americans to fellowship with. Strike mission to Mundaka…
  • Day 4 – A movie showing in Hossegor inviting Quick Festival attendees to come
  • Day 5 Surf Church Hossegor then travel up the coast stopping after 4-5 hours to visit with some CS France peeps. Surfing as we go btw!
  • Day 6 – Continue up the coast to the area of Crozon where we will spend a few days surfing and praying and connecting with surfers in this area as we join in with CS International in going Uncharted. This area does not have a gospel centered church and no CS presence. There are two churches 30 minutes away that also have a burden for these surfing and fishing villages. We will be prayerfully handing out French Surfers Bibles wherever we go along our journey.
  • Day 8&9 – Heading to the town of Brest to be with a CS chapter there and fellowshiping with them and doing another movie night.
  • Before you go

Make sure that your passport will be valid for at least six months beyond the intended departure date. Have at least two to four blank pages in your passport for visas or entry stamps.
What will the accommodations look like?

Depending on where we end up along the coast, we will be staying in homes, at hostels, or Airbnb. Be ready to travel light and be flexible.

What will the food be like? What if I have an allergy?
French food will dominate our menu but it’s ok – other than an occasional snail or frogs leg – we will be eating very similar foods to what we have in the states. We could be cooking alot of our own foods as grocery store cost are comparable to the US and eating out can be pricy. Some food allergies can be accommodated this way.

    Can I get a refund?
Up to a certain point we should be able to refund you all or part of the expense but it’s best that if you commit – don’t bail!!!

How much does it cost to fly a board?
Air France did not charge me last time I flew but definitely should check with your airline to see what they charge and what the size bags are allowed.

Can I fundraise for this trip?
Fundraising is definitely an option. We can work throught this with you as part of the team meetings.
