FROM OUR NATIONAL DIRECTOR
This year, we have been so blessed with the theme “Be Still.” Although Amy and I would definitely not say our season is a “Be Still” type of season, we have felt God’s presence in the busyness. He has provided such a strong team that we can not even begin to say how thankful we are. Our CSUS team has been extraordinary. They bring so much passion and dedication to the mission of reaching every surfer and every surfing community. In this Covered, you will read and get a snapshot of how God is moving in and through this ministry.
Here are a couple of highlights for me.
The Christian Surfers Bibles have been printed and distributed to all the chapters, and now it’s already time to reprint more. We are also joining efforts to print some in Spanish. We will be sharing more in the future. Mark your calendar for October 23 to 31, 2025, for the Surfathon, where we will be surfing as many waves as we can to get more Bibles printed.
We are stepping out in faith and hiring a CSALT director this year. Christian Surfers Advanced Leadership Training (CSALT) is an exciting opportunity to allow young people a focused time on growing in their personal relationships with the Lord. It will provide a pathway to raise up the next generation of leaders and send them out into the world to be a light for Jesus.
We have been working extremely hard on our communication as a team. It has paid off as more and more people are finding out about Christian Surfers. We have seen people join chapters, surf mission trips, and make donations – all because of our website and social media footprint. We are being very intentional in growing this area of our ministry.
Thanks for your prayers and support, and I look forward to seeing all that God does this year.

Nearly 30 CS Girls from the East Coast gathered for a campout in Masonboro, N.C., from April 11-13. The time centered on the CSUS theme – Be Still. The campout provided a space to build community through long walks on the beach, laughing around the campfire and waiting in the water for the next set of waves.

Leason Dancaescu | Gulf Coast Regional Coordinator
We were privileged to support our surf community at Surfest at Coastline Calvary Chapel. With epic speakers, Joey Buran, John McCarthy and John Spencer sharing about their faith and how it has impacted their surfing and ministries. It was truly awesome to be a part of!
The annual Waterboyz Spring Classic contest went off in classic Gulf Coast conditions, windy, choppy, sloppy, waist-high conditions were on tap, but the stoke was high and the community came out. CS Pensacola served the community and contest by helping with contest set up, judging, praying with and for the contestants, outreach and providing volunteers and contestants coffee, water and snacks throughout the day.
Sunset sessions are BACK! It’s been a long, cold and dark winter, but with the time change and things warming up, CS has returned to the beach! Monthly “Sunset Session” surf, meetup and devotional time are now taking place to encourage each other and provide an entry place for surfers who don’t have a relationship with Jesus to begin to know Him!

This September, the Jacksonville chapter served at the Sisters of the Sea and Wavemasters/King of the Hill contests. These two contests have been running annually in the Jax Beach area for decades. The local crew was set up on the beach as a sponsor for both of these contests and had chapter members surfing in the event, but also manning the tent, talking and hanging out with people on the beach. During the Wavemasters, a few of the Jax crew served as runners for the contest directors, bringing the score sheets from the two judges’ areas back to the tent. At the CS tent, people were able to connect with the team to find out how to get more involved, receive prayer and get the new Surfers Bibles. Jax Beach is one of the more competitive surf communities on the east coast of Florida, so being able to have a consistent presence around the contest scene has been a great way to engage with the core of the Jax Beach surf community.
This year, the St. Augustine chapter held their annual Christmas party where the local crew got together for a night of tarp surfing, cookie baking and white elephant exchange. The following day, a handful of people from the chapter got together to continue the tradition of taking Christmas cookies to all of the surf shops in town. This is just one of the ways that the chapter hopes to encourage and love on the local surf shops and legends working in them during the busy holiday season.

As the weather warms up in the Northeast Region (South Carolina to Maine and the Great Lakes), so does the excitement for gospel adventures. CS Myrtle Beach, SC launches an outreach a little further south with the hopes of growing a chapter, and who knows, maybe start another Surf Church.CS Wrightsville Beach, NC, is changing its name to fit its new approach to its surf community. Get used to the new name: CS Cape Fear.
Surf City, NC is plowing forward with their steady love for their beach and growing numbers of groms and women showing up for Bible study and ministry opportunities, specifically taking an interest in a chapter plant about an hour north of them in Emerald Isle. CS Hatteras recently got together with CS Kill Devil Hills at the Rodanthe skate park for some good times. CS Kill Devil Hills had their annual campout in Florida some of the CS Florida crew.
CS Virginia Beach has a new ladies coordinator and is gearing up for an incredible summer of outreach and service. CS Manasquan descended on the wave pool in North NJ this past January and is eyeing some sweet service and outreach coming this summer as well. CS Michigan has enjoyed doing snow sports all winter, but is so glad to see the shelf ice disappear as they plan for events along their beautiful coastline. Be praying for conversations taking place about new chapters in the Northeast Region!

Mikayla Groffie | Northwest Regional Coordinator
This year started out strong with all the leaders and those interested in learning more about Christians Surfers in the Northwest region gathering for a time of worship, prayer and vision casting. David Nehrig shared about this year’s theme, “Be Still.” It was a great night, and everyone felt encouraged and challenged to continue to press into what God is doing in our local surfing communities. Since then, there have been a couple of developing chapters in the San Francisco area. Monthly prayer walks have started at Ocean Beach and Montara, which are two strong surfing communities that have been on my heart for a long time. The past couple of months have been epic with surfers and people from the local churches showing up to pray and hear from the Lord.
The chapter in Santa Cruz has been going strong. On top of their weekly chapter meeting, they do a monthly bonfire for a time of games, worship, sharing testimonies and s’mores. I was able to gather a crew from up north, and we all went down to support the Santa Cruz chapter this past month. It was awesome. There was some swell in the water, so everyone scored some waves before meeting up on land to get warmed up by the fire. It was a sweet time of hanging out and going deep with each other.
Cheyne Jobbins | Southwest Regional Coordinator
The Southwest Region is going great with weekly chapter meetings happening in Point Loma, Carlsbad, Oceanside, San Clemente and Huntington Beach. These chapters are healthy and strong. The Oceanside Discipleship house called The Launchpad is running strong with six guys serving their local chapters, churches and discipling young men in the name of Jesus. The Launchpad Shapes is running every Saturday, where young guys are learning to shape a surfboard while being shaped themselves with Bible/life lessons built into the shaping process. We are looking forward to upcoming outreach events with Ride Nature, FCA Surf, North Coast Calvary, Rhythm Church, Soul Survivor Outdoor and more.
HAWAII
In February 2025, we had our second annual Warm Water Campout on the North Shore of Oahu! We had just over 40 campers come in from different Hawaiian islands, all over the USA, and even a group of guys from Australia. The camp focused on “Being Still” with amazing speakers who came to share: Larry Garrett, Eric Arakawa, and Daniel Bacquet. Each day we charged in head high-triple overhead North Shore swell, created friendships with other campers, had epic campfires in the evenings with worship and a message, and created space for quiet time with the Lord. We announced a beach baptism for the last evening, and one of the campers gave his life to the Lord and wanted to get baptized. He got baptized, and we celebrated with him on the beach in front of the camp! God truly touched this campout and is doing big things in Hawaii. We can not wait for WWCO 2026!
SURF MISSION TRIPS
SURF EXPO
A team served at Surf Expo in Orlando, Fla., handing out Surfers Bibles, encouraging and praying over industry leaders and helping businesses with cleanup and teardown.
BARBADOS
Our first Surf and Serve to Barbados was an absolutely epic time serving the local community and encouraging the chapter there in Barbados. The team spent a whole day serving at a Barbados Surfing Association (BSA) Contest at the local break, Brandons. After helping to set up the contest site, the team joined some of the organizers and judges in praying over the contest, the contestants and conditions, and the surf community of Barbados as a whole. The team then helped to run priority judging, spotting, breakdown, and any support for contest directors and judges.
Throughout the rest of the week, the team spent time doing outreach at local surf breaks – handing out Surfers Bibles, Gospel of Johns, and encouraging and interacting with local Barbadian surfers.
The trip was also an opportunity to create connections in Barbados for future Christian Surfers mission trips. We made amazing connections with local church members and surf community stakeholders. Future missions are well-positioned to serve alongside the CS chapter there to reach the Barbados surf community for Jesus!
EL SALVADOR
For the first time, the El Salvador Girls Trip was run by girls who had previously gone and been impacted by it!! They added their own flair to the trip, tie-dyeing t-shirts, painting murals, and surfing epic waves, all with the local CS Girls Crew. They were able to partner with a local orphanage, sharing the love of Jesus, and even partnered with a water filtration ministry, giving these lifesaving tools out to different villages in El Salvador!
